New on LEGION shelves: Non-alcoholic Tanqueray gin
Next news

In the world of modern alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic options are gaining popularity at an unprecedented rate. One of the brightest representatives of this trend is Tanqueray non-alcoholic gin – a new look at the classic gin, which offers all the benefits of your favorite drink, but without the alcohol content.

In this article, we will tell you what makes Tanqueray non-alcoholic gin unique, how it is produced, what flavor notes it gives and, most importantly, why it is becoming an indispensable part of a modern bar.

History of the Tanqueray brand

Let’s start with a short excursion into the history of the Tanqueray brand. It was founded in 1830 by Charles Tanqueray in London, and since then the name has become synonymous with quality gin. Before opening his own enterprise, Charles Tanqueray and his brother worked at the London distillery Curries. This helped them master all the nuances of producing flavored alcohol.

By the time the distillery opened, Charles Tanqueray had collected dozens of gin recipes and developed his own system for distilling spirits. This helped the founders of the company quickly become leaders in the production of strong alcohol.

Tanqueray has become one of the most famous gin producers in the world, thanks to the use of four main plants: juniper, coriander, angelica root and licorice. Each bottle of Tanqueray symbolizes the desire for the highest standard, passed down from generation to generation.

The modern alcoholic beverage market does not stand still, and even such traditional brands as Tanqueray cannot stay away from trends. One of these trends has become the production of non-alcoholic alternatives for those who want to enjoy the taste of their favorite drinks without alcohol.

Tanqueray gin has an original bottle shape – with protruding parts in the middle. It is extremely difficult to counterfeit such a bottle, so there are practically no counterfeits on the market. And there are many speculations around the interesting design. Some believe that the bottle shape resembles a fire hydrant. And others insist that it is an imitation of a bar shaker – after all, gin is often used to make cocktails.

What is non-alcoholic gin?

Many people wonder: what is non-alcoholic gin? It is not just a diluted or “similar” drink, but an independent product that is created with special attention to detail and taste. In the case of non-alcoholic gin Tanqueray, the producers sought to preserve all the main components of the original, but without the alcohol content.

The production process of non-alcoholic gin Tanqueray is similar to the process of producing classic gin. The same aromatic plants are used, such as juniper, coriander, and other traditional gin ingredients. The secret of production lies in the use of distillation and extraction of the essence of the flavor components of plants without alcohol.

This allows you to create a drink with a unique aroma and taste that is not inferior to the original Tanqueray.

Taste profile of non-alcoholic Tanqueray gin

Non-alcoholic Tanqueray gin is a true art of taste. Its taste profile is rich and varied, exactly the same as classic gin.

  • Juniper is the main note, which gives the drink a bright coniferous aroma with citrus notes. This is the “calling card” of any gin, and Tanqueray perfectly preserves this quality.
  • Coriander – adds a little spice and warmth to the bouquet, making the taste more complex and rich.
  • Angelica and liquorice – add softness and a sweetish finish, which pleasantly persists after each sip.

What makes this gin especially attractive is the fact that it is perfectly balanced: there is no overload of flavors, but each component is clearly felt and plays its role.

How to drink non-alcoholic Tanqueray gin?

Now that you know what non-alcoholic gin is, the natural question is: how to drink it?

  1. Classic G&T (gin and tonic) without alcohol

The easiest and most classic way to enjoy Tanqueray without alcohol is to mix it with a quality tonic. Add ice and a slice of lime or lemon, and you will get a refreshing drink that can be drunk at any party or in a cozy home environment.

2. Cocktails

Tanqueray is ideal for creating non-alcoholic cocktails. Thanks to its intense flavor profile, it can be the basis of many drinks, such as:

  • Virgin Negroni – a non-alcoholic version of the famous Negroni cocktail, where Tanqueray without alcohol is used instead of classic gin.
  • Non-alcoholic Martini – a combination of non-alcoholic gin and non-alcoholic vermouth with the addition of an olive or lemon zest.

3. Neat

If you are a fan of classic gins, Tanqueray can be tried neat with ice. This option is suitable for those who appreciate the rich aromas of juniper and spices.

Tanqueray non-alcoholic gin is a unique product that allows you to enjoy all the benefits of classic gin, but without the alcohol content.

This drink is a must-have at any party or home gathering where you want to create a festive atmosphere.

Red Wine Day: History, Varieties and Art of Tasting
Next news

Introduction

Red wine is more than just a drink. It is a symbol of tradition, heritage, and sophistication. Red Wine Day, celebrated around the world, is a great opportunity to delve into the history of this noble drink, get to know its different varieties, and learn how to appreciate it. In this article, we will look at everything you need to know about red wine, from its origins to tasting recommendations.

History of Red Wine

Red wine has a long and rich history, dating back to ancient times. The first mentions of winemaking are found in texts dating back to about 6,000 years BC. Winemaking originated in what is now Iran, and later spread to the lands of Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

In Ancient Greece, wine was considered a gift from the gods and was an integral part of religious rituals. Wine was drunk diluted with water, as pure wine was considered too strong. In Ancient Rome, wine was also extremely popular, and winemaking reached new heights. Wine became part of everyday life, used for medicine and in religious ceremonies.

Over time, winemaking spread throughout Europe, and today France, Italy, and Spain are considered the leading countries in the production of red wine.

Main Types of Red Wine

There are many types of red wine, each with its own unique taste characteristics. Let’s look at the most popular ones:

  1. Cabernet Sauvignon: One of the most famous and widely grown red wine varieties. This grape variety is known for its rich flavor with notes of blackcurrant, tobacco, and spices. Cabernet Sauvignon goes well with meat dishes, especially beef.
  2. Merlot: Merlot has a softer taste compared to Cabernet Sauvignon, with notes of plum, black cherry, and chocolate. It is a versatile wine that is suitable for both festive dinners and everyday meals.
  3. Pinot Noir: This grape variety is known for its delicate and elegant taste with notes of cherry, raspberry and wild berries. Pinot Noir pairs well with poultry dishes and soft cheeses.
  4. Shiraz (Syrah): Shiraz is known for its rich, spicy taste with notes of black pepper, chocolate and dark berries. This wine goes well with grilled meats and dishes with spicy sauces.
  5. Malbec: Malbec is a grape variety that grows mainly in Argentina. Malbec wine has a rich, fruity taste with notes of black cherry, blueberry and spices. This wine pairs perfectly with red meat dishes.

How to Properly Taste Red Wine

Wine tasting is an art that allows you to reveal all the nuances of the taste and aroma of the drink. Here are a few basic steps to help you properly evaluate red wine:

  1. Evaluating the color: Pour some wine into a glass and carefully look at its color. Young red wines are usually bright red or ruby in color, while older wines can have a deeper, garnet color.
  2. Aroma: Swirl the glass to release the aromas. Then take a deep breath and try to detect the different notes – fruit, spice, wood, tobacco, etc. The aroma of the wine can give a lot of information about its origin and aging.
  3. Taste: Take a small sip of the wine, hold it in your mouth and let it spread throughout the mouth. Evaluate its structure – it can be light and fresh or dense and rich. Pay attention to the balance between acidity, tannins and sweetness.
  4. Finish: After you swallow the wine, pay attention to how long the taste lingers. A good wine will leave a pleasant aftertaste that can last for several seconds or even minutes.

Pairing Red Wine with Food

Red wine is not only a drink on its own, but also a great addition to various dishes. Here are some recommendations for pairing red wine with food:

  1. Red meat: Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are ideal with beef, lamb and venison dishes. These wines highlight the flavor of the meat and make it even more rich.
Poultry and game: Pinot Noir is an excellent choice for duck, chicken or turkey dishes. Its light taste and subtle aromas harmonize well with the tender meat of poultry.
  2. Cheese: Merlot and Malbec pair well with medium-aged cheeses such as Gouda, Cheddar and Brie. They highlight the flavor of the cheese and create a harmonious combination.
  3. Pasta and pizza: Italian wines such as Sangiovese or Nebbiolo are ideal for pasta and pizza with tomato sauce. Their acidity and tannins balance the acidity of the tomatoes and create a perfect combination.

Conclusion

Red Wine Day is a great opportunity to enjoy this noble drink and learn more about it. Whether you prefer rich Cabernet Sauvignon or elegant Pinot Noir, red wine offers an endless variety of flavors and aromas. Proper tasting and the ability to pair wine with food will help you discover all its secrets and enjoy every sip. Let this day be a real celebration of wine culture for you!
